There are a number of festivals that take place throughout the year such as the Iceland Airwaves international music festival, the Reykjavik International Film Festival and the Reykjavik Winter Lights Festival.
Reykjavik is also known for its famous geothermal scene, with many geothermal spas such as the Blue Lagoon and Laugarvatn Fontana Geothermal Baths. The city is also a starting point for tours of some of Iceland’s spectacular natural attractions, such as the Golden Circle, Thingvellir National Park and Jökulsárlón glacial lake.
In terms of demographics, Reykjavik is the most densely populated city in Iceland. The city has a very young population, with an average age of only around 36 years.
